Manage users
Overview
The Palisade user management framework enables organizations to assign different levels of responsibility and access to team members according to the particular set up of their business.
Here is how to invite and manage users.
Invite a new user
- Navigate to the ‘Settings’ section of the Palisade console and select ‘User management’
- Click ‘Invite a user’
- Enter the user’s first and last names
- Enter the user’s email address
This is the email address which will be used to receive the account creation email and to login to the platform. - Select the authentication method
The default method is username/password, however other methods such as Single Sign-On can be added in the ‘security’ section of ‘settings’. - Select the role to assign to the user
This will determine which features and functionalities the user will be allowed to access. See our Roles and Permissions guide for more information. - Click ‘Send invite’
- The user can then accept the email invitation and create an account
Settings - edit another user's profile
Once users have been invited, they will be listed in a table on the User Management page. Admins and owners can access user settings by clicking on the three dots in the ‘actions’ column of the table. These three dots will appear once the user has accepted their email invite.
There are 4 types of settings:
Update user
A summary of the user will be displayed, including:
- Personal details (first and last name)
- Role
- Password reset option
- 2FA reset option
- API credentials created by the user
- Devices
- Block access option
Here, personal details and role can be edited, whilst the other categories can be viewed or reset.
Reset 2FA
Admins/owners can reset 2FA via the ‘Reset 2FA’ or the ‘Update’ buttons in the actions column.
Once this occurs, the user will be required to re-create their 2FA authentication method the next time they log in.
Reset password
Admins/owners can reset another user’s password via the ‘Reset password’ or the ‘Update’ buttons in the actions column.
Clicking this button will send email instructions containing a link to the user so they can reset their password.
Block user
Admins/owners can block another user via the ‘Block user’ or the ‘Update’ buttons in the actions column.
You will be promoted to enter a reason for blocking the user.
Once this occurs, the blocked user will be unable to log in and use the platform. Admins/owners can unblock the user any time.
Settings - edit your own profile
A user can edit their own profile by navigating to settings and clicking on ‘Profile’.
Similarly to above, users are able to view and edit their own personal details, reset their password and 2FA, and view their API credentials and devices.
Users cannot edit their own role or block themselves.
